    Virginia Port Authority, has requested to widen the southern access channel further than what was previously authorized to allow enough room for the turning of Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCV) outside of the federal channel, maintaining navigation in the proximity of Norfolk International Terminals.

    Varina Mitigation, LLC proposes to establish, design, construct, and operate a compensatory stream bank site to be known as Sunken Meadow. The purpose of the mitigation project is to provide off-site compensatory mitigation for projects that result in unavoidable impacts to streams and other waters of the United States in the James River Drainage Basin.

  • NAO-2008-01491

    Expiration date: 3/29/2013

    The U.S. Army Corps has received an application from Perdue Agribusiness Incorporated, to perform maintenance and new dredging on their facility in the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, in Chesapeake, Virginia. Perdue has recently brokered a deal to import and export product on larger vessels at their facility. In order to accommodate these vessels, the previously approved dredge limits and dredge depths will need to be modified. This will require the increase of the currently permitted depths (ranging from 39’ to 42’ in NAO-2008-01491, VMRC #08-V0525) to a new maximum depth of 43’. This operation will include of the removal of 25, 083 cubic yards of material covering 5.18 acres of subaqueous bottom. The spoil material is to be deposited in the Craney Island Rehandling Basin.

  • Proposed Reissuance and Modification of the Norfolk District Regional Permit 22

    Expiration date: 10/26/2012

    The Norfolk District has proposed the reissuance and modification of the Regional Permit 22 (08-RP-22) that is scheduled to expire on Aug. 14, 2013. RP-22 authorizes the activities within the Virginia portion of Lake Gaston. These activities include construction and other actions on piers, docks, boathouses, bulkheads, riptrap, boat slips, channels, aerial powerlines and utility lines. Comment period ends Oct. 26, 2012.
