    The applicant has submitted an application seeking authorization to construct Phase II of a data center campus in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Phase II of the project will impact approximately 2,778 square feet (0.06 acre) of palustrine open water (POW), 6,038 square feet (0.14 acre) of palustrine emergent (PEM), 1,498 square feet (0.03 acre) of palustrine scrub/shrub (PSS) wetland, and 5.07 acres (220,999 square feet) of palustrine forested wetland (PFO). These impacts are associated with the construction of five data center buildings totaling approximately 1.3 million square feet, a water treatment facility, two ski lodge buildings (ancillary structures for storing critical data center components), a substation pad, and the necessary stormwater management facilities and utility infrastructure to support the proposed campus. Comments should be received by close of business on February 5, 2025.

    Amazon Data Services, Inc. proposes the construction of a data center and associated infrastructure, including parking, internal roads, two substations, and one stormwater pond. The Corps in consultation with the SHPO determined that the proposed federal action will result in an adverse effect on site 44LS0298 and that with the implementation of minimization efforts outlined in the Assessment of Effects for Laurel Hill Baptist Church (dated April 23, 2024) will not adversely affect 054-5530. The Corps is consulting further to develop and evaluate alternatives or modifications to the undertaking that could avoid, minimize, or mitigate adverse effects on historic properties. Comments should be received by the close of business on June 27, 2024.
