    SUFFOLK, Va. -- A munition uncovered by contractors lays on the ground at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot on Dec. 2, 2005. In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999. Community members can learn more about this Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) and hear the latest cleanup progress during the project’s quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) virtual meeting scheduled for 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Dec. 3 via Webex.

    City, district holding reef habitat site public meeting Aug. 21
