    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District, on behalf of the Arlington National Cemetery (ANC), announces the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) for the Arlington National Cemetery Southern Expansion Project and Associated Roadway Realignment project, for review and comment.

Community Electric Cooperative proposes to impact 1.63 acres of forested wetlands for the construction of the Copeland Substation at 406 Copeland Road in Suffolk, Virginia. Comments should be received by the close of business on September 19, 2018.

    Arlington National Cemetery moves forward with cemetery expansion plans

    Arlington National Cemetery announces its public release of the draft environmental assessment in support of the cemetery’s southern expansion and associated roadway realignment projects. ANC invites the public to attend an information meeting to ensure its public partners remain fully included in the process.

    Corps, city to conduct aerial spraying for mosquitoes over Craney Island

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Wednesday, August 8th, over federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area in Portsmouth.

    FAM Construction, LLC (Pablo Molla Ruiz) proposes to extend the I-66 corridor approximately 22.5 miles from the interchange of US Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Gainesville, Prince William County, to the I-495 interchange in Fairfax County. The proposal includes impacts to 5.73 acres of wetlands and 8,852 linear feet of stream. The applicant is proposing compensatory mitigation in the form of permitee responsible mitigation at 2 sites (the Keaton and Wancopin sites). The public comment period ends 4 September 2018.

This 8.2 mile Segment III of the 75 mile corridor to Richmond is a request for an Individual Permit. The permitee, Shirley Contracting Company, LLC / c/o Mr. Charles L. Smith, IV is requesting a proposal to impact 1018 linear feet of stream channel and 3.4 acres of wetland in (HUC) 0208107 – Skimino and Queens Creek watersheds of the James River basin and the Chesapeake Bay sub-basin in James City and York Counties, Virginia.

    The proposed wetland mitigation bank is located on approximately 52 acres of agricultural land. The site is located south of Route 616, west of Route 674 and directly east of the Warrenton Air Park in Culpeper County, Virginia.The proposed bank site drains to Licking Run which is a tributary of the Potomac River.

The permitee, The City of Virginia Beach / Department of Public Works / c/o Mr. David Jarman is requesting a modification of their permit to allow a 360 LF wide X 20 LF long temporary wharf / bulkhead structure constructed in upland to remain in place. The structure is located on the western side of the Crab Creek Channel within the Lynnhaven River, Virginia beach, Virginia.

    The City of Hampton proposes to replace an existing vinyl sheet pile jetty with a stone jetty, and to expand an existing stone jetty at the Salt Ponds Inlet in Hampton, VA. In addition, the City of Hampton proposes to maintenance dredge and expand the existing Salt Ponds Inlet navigation channel between the newly improved jetty structures.
