Rudee received emergency dredging
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – In the wake of tropical storm Sandy, the city of Virginia Beach requested the Corps conduct an emergency dredge of Rudee Inlet because of significant shoaling. The Merritt, based out of Wilmington, N.C., arrived off the Virginia Beach coastline Saturday, Nov. 10 and left Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. An estimated 9,000 cubic yards of sand was dredged using a side-cast and placed adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean inlet. (U.S. Army photo/Pamela K Spaugy)
