Telle announced a major initiative, “Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork,” for the Army’s Civil Works program. “Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork” will provide greater focus on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) core Civil Works missions, while minimizing non-core programs, direct funding to priority water resources projects that will provide the greatest benefits to the nation, shorten permitting timelines, and reduce or eliminate extraneous regulations and paperwork that slow USACE’s delivery of Civil Works projects and programs.

COVINGTON, VA—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District will temporarily halt water releases from the Gathright Dam for a routine inspection of the outlet tunnel. The halt will occur from Feb. 25-27 and again from Mar. 1-3. The water release will be stopped daily at approximately 7 a.m. for up to six hours to allow for the inspection of the dam's outlet works.

Covington, VA- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District will conduct a pulse release at Gathright Dam, near Covington, Va., Wednesday, August 27 beginning at approximately 6 a.m. Water releases will gradually increase and peak at 3,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) by 9 a.m. The maximum surge will last two hours, begin to gradually decrease at 11 a.m., and return to 242 cfs by 1:30 p.m.
