Currently The Norfolk District Is Engaged In The Following Projects at Langley Air Force Base

Type III Hydrant Fuels Project

This $15.6 million, Type III Hydrant Fuel System includes 16,000 linear feet of 12” below ground fuel lines, 10 new hydrant pits, and a new 2,400 gallons per minute fuel pumping station. The project also requires roof and pan replacement on two bulk fuel storage tanks, mechanical and electrical upgrades to six existing bulk fuel storage tanks, modifying existing truck fill stand, and providing four aircraft pantographs for refueling (2-standard and 2-high reach type). The project was designed through Omaha District and is projected to be complete by fall 2006.






Operations Support Center
Langley Air Force Base

This $22.1 million, 112,000-square-foot, two story plus facility was designed as a secure administrative facility. The occupants of the facility are responsible for Air Force operations in different combat theaters around the world. The facility will have full electrical generator back-up and a computer UPS system. The design was completed through the Norfolk District and is projected for completion in spring of 2006.






Dormitory
Langley Air Force Base

This $10.0 million, 96 person dorm facility is 34,100 square feet and will be part of the Langley dormitory complex. The dormitory follows the latest Air Force standards for 4-person modules that provide private sleeping, bath and closet with a shared living, kitchen, and laundry space. The facility also includes open offices, private offices, break area, conference room, storage, and support spaces. This facility is intended to be LEED certified.
