    Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has prepared a draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment to assess a variety of requests from property owners for minor and low impact activities that alter the Sandbridge Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project.

    Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) is proposing to expand landfill operations at the existing Regional Landfill in Suffolk, Virginia off merged U.S. Routes 58, 13, and 460. Due to the anticipated wetland impacts and the scope of the project, the Corps is reviewing the project through the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act. The Corps is soliciting comments the proposed off-site alternatives.

    On Jan. 20, 4 - 7 p.m., a virtual public hearing will be held regarding a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Dominion Energy’s proposed Surry – Skiffes Creek – Whealton Aerial Transmission Line “Project." On November 27, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Dominion Energy’s proposed Surry – Skiffes Creek – Whealton Aerial Transmission Line “Project” was released in the Federal Register. On November 30th, we issued a public notice announcing its release and request for comment. To date we have received several requests for a comment period extension. After consideration, we are extending the current suspense date an additional 30-days to February 10, 2021.
