    The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) proposes to construct a 2.2-mile, two lane roadway (Route 784) with bike lanes, a multipurpose trail, a 5-foot-wide sidewalk, and stormwater facilities, on a new location northwest of the Town of Culpeper, in Culpeper County, Virginia. The southern terminus will connect to the existing Route 522, and the northern terminus will connect to the existing Route 729. The public comment period ends on February 21, 2015.

The purpose of the widening project is to improve traffic safety along the heavily traveled corridor between the city of Fredericksburg and the town of Culpeper.     The Nature Conservancy proposes to expand a compensatory wetland mitigation site which is known as MJ-1 Rivanna River (Lamb) VARTF project and is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. The purpose of the mitigation project is to provide off-site compensatory mitigation for projects that result in unavoidable impacts to waters of the United States in the Middle James drainage basin. The goal of the mitigation site is to provide appropriate mitigation for impacts, within the authorized service area, by performing wetland buffer restoration.
