    The project requires a Department of the Army permit from the Norfolk District pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act. The proposed impacts will result in 0.07 acres of permanent impact and 0.90 acres of temporary impact to the James River (associated with the raw water intake structure); 195 square feet of temporary wetland impact, 255 square feet of permanent wetland conversion and 725 linear feet of temporary impacts to the Rivanna River and its unnamed tributaries (associated with the installation of a water line); and 245 square feet of permanent wetland impact, 201 square feet of temporary wetland impact and 40 linear feet of permanent impacts to unnamed tributaries to the Rivanna River (associated with the access road upgrades) to construct a new raw water intake, install new raw water lines and upgrade the existing access road. The Corps’ permit action associated with this project is subject to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public; Federal, state, and local agencies and officials; Native American Tribes; and other interested parties in compliance with Section 106 NHPA. This public notice provides an opportunity for members of the public to express their views on the undertaking’s effects on historic properties and resolution of adverse effects. Comments are requested to assist in evaluation of the effects of the project on historic properties and evaluation of alternatives or modifications which could avoid, minimize or mitigate adverse effects on historic properties.
