12-State Program General Permit (SPGP)-01 ANNUAL REPORT FOR REPORTING PERIOD 09-1-2013-08-31-2014

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District (Corps), in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ), announces the completion of the 2013-2014 12-SPGP Annual Report.

On Nov. 1, 2002, the first State Program General Permit (SPGP-01) was granted to the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for the discharge of dredged and/or fill material in non-tidal wetlands and waters of the United States, associated with residential, commercial and institutional developments and linear transportation projects within the Commonwealth.

Effective May 31, 2012, the Corps revised and expanded the State Program General Permit (12-SPGP-01). The Corps’ 12-SPGP-01 authorizes the discharge of dredged or fill material causing the permanent loss of not more than one acre of non-tidal wetlands or open waters or the permanent loss of not more than 2,000 linear feet of stream channel associated with certain residential, commercial and institutional developments. And, 12-SPGP-01 authorization will not cause the permanent loss of not more than 1/3-acre nontidal waters of the United States, including wetlands, for linear transportation projects within the geographical limits of the Commonwealth of Virginia under the regulatory jurisdiction of the Corps.
