USACE announces Gathright Dam pulse release dates for 2019

NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct six pulse releases from the Gathright Dam and Lake Moomaw project near Covington in western Virginia between June and October.

The pulses, conducted by Norfolk District in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, will begin at about 6 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. on scheduled days and increase Jackson River levels from 3 to 4.5 feet.

The 2019 pulse dates are set for the following Wednesdays:

June 26
July 24
Aug. 14
Sept. 4
Sept. 25
Oct. 16

Pulse dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and rainfall.
