A crane moves 14,000 fossilized oyster shell from a barge into waters in the Lafayette River. This Norfolk International Terminal six-acre sanctuary reef is one of six reefs being constructed as part of the Craney Island Eastward Expansion project/oyster mitigation process. The oyster reefs will be complete in June 2014. All of the reefs will be permanent oyster sanctuaries.
