Open for patient care
FORT BELVOIR, Va. — The Fort Belvoir Community Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, which took five years and $1.03 billion to build. The facility replaces the installation’s Dewitt Army Hospital and expands the military medical community’s capabilities within the National Capital Region. Its construction was done through an Integrated/Design/Bid/Build procurement process and overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District, which allowed construction to start while design was still being developed; turning what would typically be an eight- to 10-year process into a five-year fast-track project.
