FORT LEE, Va.—The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, turns over the keys to the new Tactical Support Equipment Department Training Facility here April 24, a day ahead of scheduled completion.

The more than $49 million, 260,500 square-foot facility provides training labs and classrooms to instruct Soldiers in setting up, maintaining and repairing tactical equipment they will use in the field.

TSED also includes administrative spaces for use by facility instructors and commanders.

In addition to the TSED handover, two buildings associated with the Army Logistics University were turned over for installation use April 22,.

The simulation and education buildings are part of the overall 45-acre campus that will centrally link tomorrow's logisticians with today's Soldiers through a specialized satellite array.

The Army Logistics University is set for completion May 12, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in early July.

LOGU and TSED mark the third and fourth 2005 Base Realignment and Closure projects completed on time and within budget at Fort Lee, which is no small feat, said Bill Robson, Norfolk District BRAC area engineer.

"I would have to attribute successful completion to the individual project teams assigned on the projects," said Robson. "When you have team buy-in to the mission, then the result seems to be projects completed on or ahead of schedule."

Overall, Norfolk District is managing more than $1 billion of 2005 BRAC construction work at Fort Lee, with the final project set for completion in 2011.
