NORFOLK, Va.—Norfolk District employees kicked the holiday season into high gear here Dec. 2 with the annual Angel Tree lighting ceremony.
The event including holiday caroling by the district singing group, The Corpsaleers, and a visit by two children from Norfolk’s Saint Mary's Home for Disabled Children.
The tree, located in the lobby of the district’s Waterfield Building, is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age, gender and holiday wishes of a child from Saint Mary’s. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child described on the tags.
The Corpsaleers are scheduled to deliver the gifts and perform for the children Dec. 19. The deadline for donating a gift is Dec. 17.
