FORT NORFOLK , Va. – The results of the Fiscal Year 07 civil works Customer Satisfaction Survey are in and Norfolk District, with a composite score of 4.60, ranked first among 16 Tier II organizations surveyed throughout the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
Each USACE district conducted a survey of their entire civil works customer population. Norfolk District survey administrator, Mark Mansfield, chief of the Planning & Policy Branch, indicated that the Norfolk District uses this annual survey, begun in 2006, as a developmental tool to improve customer relationships and quality of services. It serves as a vehicle to establish close personal relationships with customers and to work to preemptively diffuse potential issues.
After being tied for the number one spot in 2006, Norfolk District was the only organization to fill the number one spot in 2007. In 2006, Norfolk District's composite score of 4.63 exceeded the 4.28 average amongst 15 other Tier II organizations. The most recent survey based on products and services delivered in 2007 reveals that Norfolk District's composite score of 4.6 exceeds the 4.33 average amongst all 16 Tier II organizations.Tier II USACE organizations are those with less than $100 million in civil works funding. Customers evaluated Tier II organizations by responding to 24 questions organized into eight categories of service. Among the eight categories of service, Norfolk District's score was amongst the highest scores across the board. NAO was ranked number one in the attitude, products and services, timeliness, communication and problem solving categories.
The Fiscal Year 2008 budget includes $4.871 billion in new federal funding for the Civil Works Program which the highest budget ever proposed for the Civil Works Program. This critical funding will enable the Corps to continuously contribute to the nation's efforts to revitalize the economy, effectively protect and sustain the environment and provide customers with superior services.
