FORT NORFOLK, Va. – The results of the USACE FY 07 Military Programs Customer Satisfaction Survey are in and Norfolk District, with a composite score of 4.69, ranked first among 16 Tier 1 organizations surveyed throughout the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

In fiscal year (FY) 06, Norfolk District ranked third behind Savannah and Tulsa Districts, with a composite score of 4.47. Tier 1 USACE organizations are assigned based on large military programs with at least 35 customer contracts. The FY 07 composite score average for all of the 16 Tier 1 organizations surveyed were 4.23; down from the FY 06 average of 4.26.

Norfolk District ranked first in 28 of 34 overall categories of Trends by Customer Group, scoring highest in Investigations/Inspections (Non-Environmental), BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure), Real Estate, Resolves Your Concerns, Environmental Compliance and Project Management evaluations.

In a memorandum to USACE Division Commanders, the Director of Military Programs, Maj. Gen. Merdith W.B. Temple, noted that the objective of these survey analyses is simply benchmarking, not organizational competition. “View the customer satisfaction survey as a developmental tool; one that facilitates building stronger relationships with your customers and provides insights into your customers’ needs and your organizational performance,” stressed General Temple.

“General Temple is absolutely right. While we are extremely pleased with the survey results and the hard work that has enabled us to be ranked first in USACE, this is truly a benchmark that we will strive to maintain and improve upon,” said Chief of Projects John Adams.
